Developing a system that can be controlled by a portable device and easily implemented on any door is the main goal of the Smart Lock System. Its purpose is to avoid the usage of a hardware key; the new key will be an Android app in the mobile device which provides security to the user and to the specific area due to the fact that only restricted personnel is permitted access in this area.
The design of the embedded system and its implementation, focusing on the system hardware part, are the key aims of this thesis. PADS-PCB design software is used in order to develop and manufacture the PCB board. All the material and equipments to manufacture the prototype are provided by the Technobothnia laboratory.
The whole system was made available into a door prototype to make realistic tests. In this test phase, the Smart Lock System successfully controlled the state of the electric strike; the communication between the mobile phone and the Bluetooth Module worked successfully and the data was checked and passed correctly. Hence, the goals of the project are achieved and a reliable lock system is developed.
