Muut ideat on esitelty mahdollisia jatkokehitysprosesseja varten.
Työn pohdintaosiossa on ehdotus työelämämentoriroolin kehittämisestä. A wide range of skills is required when entering the world of work for the first time. Good workplace skills and job-seeking skills promote employment in the early stages of a young person's career. Workplace skills and job-seeking skills are learned as part of vocational studies. As the world of work changes rapidly, vocational teachers need to be aware of the changing needs of the industries they teach and to keep their own competences, including digital skills, up to date.
The aim of the thesis was to identify, through the experiences of vocational students, the factors that hinder or create uncertainty when applying for work, in order to find ways to develop these skills during their studies. The goal was complemented by teachers’ experiences of students´ capabilities and competences. In addition, teachers' own experiences of their own skills and the needs of the modern world of work was sought. The study focused on six business students and four teachers.
The study was conducted as a qualitative study and the method was thematic interview. In addition, teachers conducted self-assessment of their digital skills. After analyzing the data, development workshops were carried to identify development ideas. Of the many ideas, one was developed into a development plan. Other ideas have been presented for possible further development processes.
The development plan is a job seeking process produced for teachers and students to be carried out during the last year of study. It can be used in upper secondary education regardless of the field of study or educational institution. In the reflection section of the work, there is a proposal for the development of the role of a career mentor.
