Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin puhevammaisten lasten kommunikaation palvelupolkua puheterapiasta vammaisten tulkkauspalvelun asiakkaiksi. Tavoitteena on edistää puheterapeuttien ja puhevammaisten tulkkien yhteistyötä asiakkaan parhaaksi. Kommunikaatiopalveluiden yhtenäistäminen ja selkeyttäminen mahdollistaisi puhevammaisen henkilön osallisuutta yhteiskunnassa lapsuudesta asti.
Tutkimus on kaksiosainen. Ensimmäinen osa tutkii tulkkauspalvelun käyttöönottoa lapsiasiakkaille suosittelijan näkökulmasta. Puheterapeuttien tietämystä tulkkauspalvelun mahdollisuuksista tutkittiin kyselyn avulla.
The research is in two parts. The first part studies the commissioning of the interpreter service for child customers from the point of view of the referee. The speech therapists' knowledge of the possibilities of the interpreter service was examined by a survey. Based on the results of the survey, a briefing was arranged for a small group of speech therapists. After the briefing, they were sent a shorter survey regarding the usefulness of the briefing. The surveys were quantified.
The second part consisted of the planning and implementation of the interpreter service trial for child customers. The trial of the interpreter service included information for the family member during the child's speech therapy session, as well as the opportunity to try interpretation in a leisure situation. The interpretation was observed, and the experiences of the family members were collected through an interview.
According to the speech therapists and the family members of the child customers who participated in the study, the interpreter service for speech-impaired people was perceived as a service intended mainly for adults, which can be used for interactions, for example in a hospital. After the briefing, it was felt that interpretation also benefited child customers and the potential of interpretation in supporting interaction was understood.
Interpretation is not refereed for child customers because the role of the interpreter for the speech-impaired people is unclear. The customer journey map is burdensome for parents of children with special needs, and professionals do not have sufficient information about the interpreter service. The customer journey map should be clarified, information should be provided in a more targeted way and concrete help should also be available to assist when applying for services. Professional cooperation between speech therapists and interpreters for people with speech impairment would allow for a more coherent communication service map from childhood to adulthood.
