Tiivistelmä
The objective of the thesis work is to research and create a web based service in a field of interior design. With my project, I am hoping to find out whether this kind of web service in the field of interior design can work in general and that the process together with the actual order form on internet is smooth from both customer and company point of view. The company has interior design related services but none entirely executed on the web. The target is to create a totally new service/product to support the other existing business. I am also hoping to confirm that the company Stailia Design Oy (later Stailia) can build a profitable business in the sector of private households by successfully launching this new service. By doing that Stailia aims to further strengthen its position on the market. Alongside the other already existing product/service aimed at the private households and the currently biggest business, the construction companies, this kind of groundbreaking addition would be unique. The work in this thesis is based on the service design process and methods such as service blueprint, co-design and observation. Those are used to bring a customer centric view to the service/product. Each method used in the thesis is researched and analyzed. The use of typical service design methods is recorded. The implementation of each research method is documented and examined. Based on the results two prototypes of the service were created and the latter published and tested for suggestions for further improvements. The outcome of the project is a new product/service which the client continues to keep in the assortment but could further update it to a final improved version.
