Tutkielma toteutettiin kolmannen sektorin ennaltaehkäisevää lastensuojelutyötä tekevälle Icehearts ry:lle, jonka tarpeista aihe nousi. Työn tarkoituksen oli selvittää miten Icehearts ry:n koulutyö vaikuttaa lasten koulunkäyntiin ja koulun muuhun arkeen Icehearts-kasvattajien ja koulun henkilökunnan näkökulmasta. Tutkielman tavoitteena oli saada Icehearts ry:lle konkreettista tietoa koulutyön vaikuttavuudesta, jonka avulla he pystyvät kehittämään toimintaansa ja markkinoimaan sitä päättäville tahoille.
Laadullisessa tutkielmassa käytimme aineistonkeruumenetelmänä teemahaastattelua. Teemoinamme olivat Iceheartsin ja koulun yhteistyö, koulumaailman nykypäivän haasteet ja vaikuttavuuden arviointi. Aineisto kerättiin haastattelemalla neljää henkilöä, kahta Icehearts-kasvattajaa ja kahta koulun opettajaa. Haastattelut suoritimme kahtena parihaastatteluna, Icehearts-kasvattajat sekä koulun opettajat omina pareinaan. Saatu aineisto litteroitiin ja analysoitiin teemoittelemalla.
Aineistosta kävi ilmi että kasvattajan yksi rooli on toimia opettajan lähimpänä työparina, jolloin opettajalla on toinen aikuinen jakamassa arjen haasteita. Koulu asettaa tietyt raamit, joihin kaikkien lasten ei ole helppo sopia mutta Icehearts voi toiminnallaan helpottaa sopeutumista. Opettajilla on rajalliset mahdollisuudet kohdata lapsia yksilöllisesti koulun arjessa resurssien puutteen vuoksi mutta kasvattaja pystyy vastaamaan tähän tarpeeseen. 
Johtopäätöksenä voidaan päätellä, että lapsen subjektiutta tukevalla arvostavalla kohtaamisella sekä syrjäytymistä ehkäisevällä toiminnallaan Icehearts-kasvattaja tukee lapsen koulunkäyntiä. Tämä tuli ilmi niin opettajien kuin kasvattajienkin haastatteluista.

ABSTRACT

The study was executed for the Icehearts which is a third sector organization focusing on preventive child welfare work. The subject arose from the needs of Icehearts. The purpose of the study was to find out how the Icehearts' support at school affects children´s schooling and daily life at school. Especially, from the school teachers' and Icehearts educators' point of view. The aim of this study was to acquire concrete information and feedback for Icehearts, thus they can develop their operating model and market it to municipal leaders. 
The material was gathered by interviewing four people, two of them were Iceheart educators and two teachers. Themes for interviews consisted of cooperation between Icehearts and the school, challenges in today´s school world and effectiveness evaluation. The data was transcribed and analyzed by the thematic analysis. 
As a result turns out that one role of the educator is to work as a teacher´s closest colleague so that the teacher can have another adult to share the challenges of a school day. School sets certain boundaries and some pupils find it difficult to adapt these rules but with the Icehearts work and support it can be easier. Teachers have limited opportunities to face children individually because of the lack of resources but the educator can meet this need. 
As a conclusion, it can be suggested that with work that supports children´s subjectivity and preventive of social exclusion action Icehearts educator supports the child´s school. This came out in both of the interviews.
